Old Town Civil Defense towers

Went to check out the local Civil Defense bunker (precursor to FEMA). It was built in the 50's for use in the event of a nuclear attack. After the Civil Defense organization was shut down it was used as a transfer station for a woman's prison, offsite underground storage, and finally had to be sealed off when a local gang took up residence on the inside.

These two towers sit just behind the bunker, and have a variety of low band radio antennas on them for long range communication. They are a lot larger than they look (1.5 to 2 feet in diameter), you can just make out the studs on the sides that allow people to climb them to perform maintenance.
